Still time to register for July 22 event!

CLEVELAND (July 11, 2006) — About 100 openings remain for the 4th annual Wings of Wonder event at Burke Lakefront Airport, Saturday, July 22.

Approximately 200 families – it's 200 participants have registered to participate in the unique program that gives seriously ill children and their families sightseeing flights around the Cleveland area with experienced, licensed pilots. The event is free, but participants must register in advance by visiting www.kidsinflight.org or by calling 216-287-6565.

MARIA—WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION? – Friday July 21st

Wings of Wonder is hosted by Kids In Flight™, a local non-profit organization, founded by Maria Weybrecht, 23. Weybrecht created Kids in Flight after she was diagnosed with very aggressive thyroid cancer at the age of 19, just one month after obtaining her private pilot license.

“We want to give these families a chance to escape for just one day,” said Weybrecht. “Wings of Wonders allows families to be together in a fun, stress-free environment without the struggles they endure every day.”

In addition to offering airplane rides, the event includes other aviation-related activities such as educational exhibits from NASA and aircraft displays. Those attending will enjoy arts and crafts, clowns, magicians, food and more.

To arrange an interview with Maria, or if you plan to send a reporter to cover the event, please contact Susan Shaw 216-941-7255.
