Registration Deadline Extended for 2011 Wings of Wonder Event
For Release: May 25, 2011
Cleveland, OhioFamilies have until June 10 to register for Kids In Flight's premier event, Wings of Wonder.
"The entry deadline was extended in order to give more children the opportunity to participate," said Maria Weybrecht, Kids in Flight founder. "We've had so much support from the local community we are able to accept more families."
To date almost 200 families have registered for the June 25 event at Burke Lakefront Airport but Weybrecht says there's room for more.
Wings of Wonder gives critically ill children and their families free airplane rides around Cleveland. (Each plane will accept one child and two family members. ) Over the years, Weybrecht has led the organization through several transformations with the ultimate goal of making Kids in Flight a national organization.
This year, Wings of Wonder returns to Burke Lakefront Airport after a three year absence. In addition to airplane rides, families will enjoy games, educational exhibits and entertainment in a festival-like atmosphere. Lunch is provided for participating families and several historical, commercial, and military aircraft are displayed, such as an SNJ-4 Texan, P-51 Mustang, and Boeing 737.
