Static Display Aircraft
The mission of the Commemorative Air Force is to acquire, restore, and preserve in flying condition a collection of military aircraft of all nations for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations.
The Cleveland Wing, based at the Lorain County Regional Airport, has been assigned an SNJ-4 Advanced Navy Trainer (AT-6 Texan) which has trained hundreds of Navy and Marine pilots for combat. Their experienced team of volunteers keeps our SNJ-4 in pristine condition, belying the fact that her engine has a manufacture date of December 6, 1941 and that she was placed in service in 1942.
Bob Heaton has been interested in all things mechanical since the age of five. He is a graduate of the Bedford school system as well as the Peabody Academy. Bob is the owner of a 1942 Stearman N2S3 and a 1,000 hour commercial pilot since 1989 with time in everything from the Stearman to jet turbines. Bob has towed banners, flown charters and currently gives site seeing and aerobatic rides in the Stearman. He also holds A&P licenses and is a principal in Lake Aviation.
